A highly structured, goal-oriented, individualized treatment program designed to return the person to work. Work-hardening programs, which are interdisciplinary in nature, use real or simulated work activities designed to restore physical, behavioral and vocational functions. Work hardening addresses the issues of productivity, safety, physical tolerance and worker behaviors. The Canada Pension Plan National Vocational Rehabilitation Project(NVRP) is a five-year project providing quality rehabilitation services to Canada Pension Plan clients wishing to return to the workforce. NVRP is being evaluated on an ongoing basis to determine whether the program will become a permanent component of Canada Pension Plan operations.
