The BC Exotic Bird Society came into being in 1951 and was known as The British Columbia Budgerigar and Foreign Bird Society of Western Canada. In 1966 the name of the society was changed to The BC Cage Bird Society and later in 1993 it became The BC Exotic Bird Society holding it's meetings in Langley, BC, and having members throughout Canada. The BC Exotic Bird Society is a registered non-profit organization, supported by a volunteer group of bird loving members. The Society provides an opportunity for people who are interested in exotic birds to get together and exchange information and knowledge on the proper care, feeding habits, and breeding requirements of our feathered friends.

The UASBC is a 175 member group of volunteer, avocational underwater archaeologists. We are mostly from British Columbia but also have members who live all over North America. The Society is the largest diving club in British Columbia, and one of the largest and most active heritage organisations in the province. The UASBC assists archaeologists by undertaking worthwhile projects not currently addressed by professionals. Inventories of shipwrecks and other submerged cultural sites are an especially important contribution. Information about the location, history, and status of these resources is vital to their conservation and management.

And, so was born a unique movement that he named Frontier Apostolate. Unique because, in the 35 years of its existence, more than 3,000 volunteers came from all over North America and Europe, indeed some from every continent, in response to his call.
