The CCHALW contributes to the advancement of health and active living at work by providing resources, tools and expertise to active living and health professionals in Canadian workplaces. In 1989, the former Canadian Centre for Active Living in the Workplace(CCALW) was created. It produced a comprehensive "Working Actively Together" blueprint and had made tangible progress in its implementation until the federal government in 1993 announced funding cuts. Le Conseil canadien de la santé et de la vie active au travail (CCSVAT ou le Conseil) est un organisme bénévole sans but lucratif qui assure leadership et soutien aux professionnels canadiens de la promotion de la santé et de la vie active s'efforçant de créer des milieux de travail plus sains. Aujourd'hui, le CCSVAT maintient un solide partenariat avec l'Unité de l'activité physique de Santé Canada et collabore avec de nombreux autres organismes afin de concevoir des initiatives originales et d'offrir des ressources et des recherches axées sur la promotion de la santé et de la vie active au travail. Créé en 1989, le défunt Centre canadien pour la vie active en milieu de travail (CCVAMT) élabora un plan d'action global intitulé Working Actively Together dont la mise en œuvre progressa de façon tangible jusqu'à l'annonce des compressions budgétaires en 1993. We promote the development of public sector professionals and the effective application of Information Management and Technology(IM/IT) in the Federal Government of Canada and other public sector jurisdictions. Nous faisons la promotion du développement des professionnels du secteur public et la mise en œuvre efficace de la gestion de l'information et de la technologie de l'information au sein du gouvernement fédéral du Canada. Computers for Schools(CFS) is a national, federal government-led program that operates in cooperation with all provinces and territories, the private and volunteer sectors. The program collects, repairs and refurbishes donated surplus computers from government and private sector sources and distributes them free to schools and libraries throughout Canada. CFS was co-founded in 1993 by Industry Canada and the Telephone Pioneers the largest industry-related volunteer organization in the world. Computers for Schools contributes to the government's Connecting Canadians initiative. Since its inception, CFS has provided more than 300 000 computers to schools and libraries in all provinces and territories. CFS now delivers in excess of 60 000 additional computers each year. In addition to coordinating computer donors and recipients, CFS oversees more than 55 repair and refurbishing centres throughout Canada, where surplus computers are cleaned, refurbished and prepared for delivery. Le Programme des ordinateurs pour les écoles (OPE) est un programme national, dirigé par le gouvernement fédéral, qui fonctionne en collaboration avec les provinces et les territoires, le secteur privé et celui du bénévolat. Il permet de recueillir, de réparer et de remettre à neuf des ordinateurs excédentaires provenant des administrations publiques et du secteur privé, avant qu'ils ne soient distribués gratuitement aux écoles et aux bibliothèques d'un bout à l'autre du Canada. Le Programme OPE a été mis sur pied en 1993 par Industrie Canada, conjointement avec les Pionniers du téléphone le plus vaste organisme de bénévolat du monde ayant un lien avec l'industrie. Le Programme des ordinateurs pour les écoles contribue à l'initiative «Un Canada branché» mise sur pied par le gouvernement. Le Programme OPE, qui, depuis ses débuts, a fourni plus de 250 000 ordinateurs aux écoles et aux bibliothèques de l'ensemble des provinces et territoires, en fournit maintenant plus de 60 000 autres par année. En plus de coordonner les donateurs d'ordinateurs et les bénéficiaires, les responsables du Programme OPE supervisent plus de 55 centres de réparation et de remise à neuf aux quatre coins du Canada, où l'on nettoie les ordinateurs, on les remet à neuf et on les prépare à être livrés. Saskatchewan has the highest rate of voluntarism in Canada. Each volunteer reaches outside his or her personal activities to help others and make daily life in our province better for everyone. Formal recognition of volunteers is a way both of expressing the gratitude of the community and of presenting role models to the people of the province. While the Saskatchewan Order of Merit, established in 1985 as the province's highest honour, does recognize volunteer or community service, this is only one among many fields of endeavour for which the Order is bestowed. A brain-child of UNDP, the TOKTEN programme was initiated in 1977 to compensate for the ill effects of the "brain drain" syndrome through the concept of bringing back talents to their home country. Throughout its existence, TOKTEN has proven to be a cost-effective and innovative modality to transfer knowledge to over 30 developing countries in a wide spectrum of fields. In 1994, a new nonprofit Manitoba corporation known as the Manitoba Ozone Protection Industry Association(MOPIA) was created. MOPIA’S mandate is to provide information and assistance including leadership, administrative and technical support to all stakeholders in an effort to uniformly phase-out and eliminate the use of ozone depleting substances in the province of Manitoba. MOPIA makes recommendations on certification of technicians and on training programs. It also keeps the service records of the approximately 5, 000 certified technicians in Manitoba as well as the sales records of the ODS wholesalers who supply them.
