... of the World Meteorological Organization. The Atmospheric Research and Environment Programme promotes atmospheric research and development and technology transfer between Members. It includes the Global Atmosphere Watch, which integrates monitoring and research activities carried out under the Global Ozone Observing System(GO3OS) and the Background Air Pollution Monitoring Network(BAPMoN) and serves as a system to detect changes in the composition of the atmosphere, an important prerequisite to understanding human impact on the atmosphere and addressing important aspects of sustainable development. [...] de l'Organisation météorologique mondiale. Le PRAE vise à stimuler la recherche atmosphérique, de même que l'élaboration de techniques et leur échange entre les Membres. Un de ses volets est la Veille de l'atmosphère globale, qui regroupe toutes les activités de surveillance et de recherche menées dans le cadre du Système mondial d'observation de l'ozone (SMOO3) et du Réseau de surveillance de la pollution atmosphérique de fond (PABMoN) et dont l'objectif essentiel est de détecter les modifications de la composition de l'atmosphère, ce qui est indispensable pour bien comprendre l'influence de l'homme sur l'atmosphère et pour faciliter la pratique d'un développement durable. The main purpose of the Programme is to stimulate collaboration and participation in basic research in the physics and chemistry of clouds and encourage application of this research with particular emphasis on the needs of weather prediction, weather modification and atmospheric pollution. This includes parameterization of clouds and precipitation processes in atmospheric models, the role of clouds in the radiative balance of the atmosphere, chemical transformation and transportation of pollutants, weather modification, etc. The programme provides information on the rationale underlying all aspects of weather modification and the role of clouds in atmospheric chemistry.
