A kisbie ring in general is a piece of life saving equipment that almost all ships carry. We have 4 stations onboard fitted with smoke markers, kisbie rings and other equipment which lookouts throw overboard in the event of a man overboard. As a piece of rescue equipment, these are painted orange and have the ships name on them in black in accordance with Canadian and international law. When alongside in home or foreign port, we use our ceremonial kisbie rings... in the 4 stations for decoration. We also have the stand and kisbie ring at the brow where you come aboard our ship as a welcome aboard sign and identifier.

The official opening for the Tuesday, Day Ladies group will be held on Tuesday, May 1st. We will start the day with a 9 : 00 a. m. meeting(rain or shine). The meeting will hopefully be followed by golf – weather permitting. The fee this year will remain at $30. 00 which will cover prizes for our various events throughout the season. Any new members who may be interested in joining the Day Ladies Group are welcome to attend the meeting.

Glen Mar accepted a total of seventy-five (75) females into its membership this season, including one junior girl. Eighty percent (59) of Glen Mar’s female membership joined one of its two Ladies leagues. The Day Ladies League welcomed 38 members this year, including one Alumni Member, while the Business Ladies welcomed a total of 41 members. It should be noted that twenty-one ladies were members of both the Day and Business Ladies leagues.

Although tournaments are competitive, they can also be a lot of fun. So all lady members are invited to sign up and join in the events organized by the Day and Business Ladies.

close parallel runways: Two parallel runways whose extended centerlines are separated by less than 4,300 feet, having a Precision Runway Monitoring (PRM) system that permits simultaneous independent ILS [Instrument Landing System] approaches.

The new runway is a welcome addition to Pearson Airport. It will increase the airport's hourly performance to 119 movements per hour. It is the only "close-in parallel runway" in Canada which means it has been built in tandem with another runway. The runways are codependent in that one is used for departures and one is used for arrivals.
