The Link to Health program, a gentle fitness program for adultsover 55, began in 1969 as the "Fun and Fitness" program in Western Canada. In 1996, the Canadian Red Cross re-designed it to have a more holistic approach and renamed it Link to Health. It began as "Fun and Fitness" in the Toronto Region in 1991 and has grown and changed over the years to what it is today. Originally offered in nursing homes and senior's centers, Link to Health eventually moved to more accessible locations for seniors who live independently in their communities. The Equity Approach. Equity is the original "WID" [women in development] approach, introduced within the 1976-85 UN [United Nations] Women's Decade. Its purpose is to gain equity for women in the development process. Women are seen as active participants in development. It recognizes women's triple role and seeks to meet strategic gender needs through direct state intervention, giving political and economic autonomy to women, and reducing inequality with men. The Great Western Railway automatic warning system developed circa 1906 is very similar to the British Rail one, the main difference being that is used a contact ramp rather than non-contact magnets. This ramp was located on the approach to the distant signal, and pushed up slightly higher than the level of the rail on a plunger mounted on the engine. "Abraham's tree" is the name given to a cloud form which consists of feather and plume like appendages of cirrus emanating from a point on the distant horizon. In mid latitudes, this form is most often seen on the western or southern horizon with the approach of a warm front or as cirrus blows out from the top of a distant thunderstorm cloud(cumulonimbus).
