In contrast to the automatic recording instruments monitoring volume increases at constant pressure, van de Craats maintained the volume constant and recorded automatically the pressure changes by means of an electromagnetic manometer devised by Kinkel.... In addition to van de Craats’ work with pressure-sensing devices, Novák and Janák constructed a detector which represents the pneumatic analog of a Wheatstone bridge, employing the dynamic effects of pneumatic obstructions such as capillaries and constrictions for determining component fractions emerging from the gas chromatographic column. Requiring no electrical power yet having an accuracy comparable to high precision thermal conductivity cells, it expresses the pressure differential, either differentially or integrally, caused by the eluted component as a diagonal from zero. Kelvin double bridge: It is a standard testing instrument for accurate measurement of very low resistances such as shunts, copper & aluminum conductors or wire and specific resistance determinations of heavy distribution transformers. Hot-wire anemometer... is an important device used principally in research on air turbulence and boundary layers. There are two types, known as constant-voltage and constant-temperature. The cooling of an electrically heated fine wire placed in a gas stream which alters wire resistance depends on the fluid velocity. In thermal conductivity analysers, a Wheatstone Bridge Circuit measures the imbalance caused by passing gas over detector filaments, using half of the cells for the fumigant air mixture and the other half for air as a control. This analyser, in a portable form, is commonly used to check for methyl bromide in ship holds, but it can also be calibrated for other gases. Dans ce genre d'appareil, on utilise un circuit à pont de Wheatstone pour mesurer le déséquilibre provoqué par le passage d'un gaz au-dessus des filaments détecteurs. La moitié des cellules sert à l'analyse du mélange fumigant/air; l'autre moitié sert aux mesures témoins avec de l'air uniquement. On utilise couramment des modèles portatifs pour mesurer les concentrations de bromure de méthyle dans les cales de navire, mais on peut aussi étalonner les analyseurs en fonction d'autres gaz.
