A circular window, especially one divided into compartments by mullions radiating from a centre, or filled with tracery suggestive of the petals of a rose.

OBS

The term rose window was not used before the 17th century and comes from the English flower name rose.... The name "wheel window" is often applied to a window divided by simple spokes radiating from a central boss or opening, while the term "rose window" is reserved for those windows, sometimes of a highly complex design, which can be seen to bear similarity to a multi-petalled rose.

A porte tache, or flask carrier, was a strap designed to carry a powder flask and a bullet pouch, and sometimes a spanner for wheel locks. Normally this strap was attached to the waist belt on the right side and hung straight down. It was most popular during the late years of the sixteenth century and the opening years of the seventeenth.

Receiving hoods are positioned to catch contaminants that are discharged from an operation in a predictable direction. Examples of receiving hoods include canopies located over a hot process in which hot exhaust fumes rise to the hood level by their own buoyancy, and hoods located adjacent to grinding wheels to catch the stream of dust generated by the spinning wheel. Receiving hoods may physically resemble capture hoods, but they differ with respect to the principle used for contaminant capture. Capture hoods operate at a higher flow rate to generate the air velocities necessary to capture contaminants from a source some distance from the hood opening. Receiving hoods, on the other hand, are positioned to catch the stream of contaminants delivered to them by forces intrinsic to the operation.

Hood designs can be placed into three broad categories based on the methods used to capture contaminants: exterior hoods, receiving hoods, and exhaust enclosures.
