Adjust pressure and tension to attain a properly balanced stitch... Uses : This is probably the most common seam finish. It's a nice finish for medium-weight woven fabrics that ravel. The hairline seam can be used for collars, cuffs, and facings in sheer fabrics. This seam is stitched with a narrow zigzag, then trimmed close to the stitching so that no seam allowances show through. A straight seam is the one that occurs most often. In a well-made straight seam, the stitching is exactly the same distance from the seam edge the entire length of the seam. On l'exécute au point droit, car celui-ci convient à presque tous les genres de tissus. The overedge-stitch seam is done by using a special stitch pattern that is a combination of straight and zigzag stitches, some of which are stretch stitches. The straight stitches fall on the seamline; the zigzag stitches go over the edge. Using this type of stitch, seams can be joined and finished in one stitching operation.
