La Passerelle a été élaborée dans le cadre de Gouvernement en direct, une initiative qui vise à permettre à la population canadienne d'avoir accès par voie électronique à l'information et aux services du gouvernement. Passerelle conçue par Industrie Canada et TPSGC qui contient de l'information dans les domaines comme la santé, le logement, la sécurité, les télécommunications, les voyages, le tourisme ainsi que sur divers autres sujets qui touchent la vie quotidienne des Canadiennes et des Canadiens. Elle fournit de l'information à jour sur toutes sortes de sujets, allant des aliments génétiquement modifiés aux rappels de véhicules.
