The Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt a Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities was convened by the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP) pursuant to Governing Council decision 17/20 of 21 May 1993, in which the Council authorized the Executive Director to organize a structured and sequenced preparatory process leading to a two-week intergovernmental meeting in late 1995 for the purpose of adopting a programme of action for the protection of the marine environment from landbased activities. The Conference, which was the final meeting in the process, was held in Washington, D. La Conférence intergouvernementale chargée d'adopter un programme d'action mondial pour la protection du milieu marin contre la pollution due aux activités terrestres a été convoquée par le Directeur exécutif du Programme des Nations Unies pour l'environnement (PNUE) conformément à la décision 17/20 du Conseil d'administration, en date du 21 mai 1993, dans laquelle le Conseil autorisait le Directeur exécutif à organiser un processus préparatoire structuré et par étape, devant aboutir à une réunion intergouvernementale de deux semaines à la fin de 1995 dont le but serait d'adopter un programme d'action pour la protection du milieu marin contre la pollution due aux activités terrestres. In 1966, the United Nations declared March 21 the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and, in 1989, Canada began the March 21 Campaign to promote racial harmony. The Racism. Stop It! National Video Competition is part of our country's Campaign against racial discrimination and every year we encourage youth to participate. 2006 marks the 10th anniversary of the Racism. Stop It! National Video Competition. The competition involves thousands of young Canadians in every province and territory. It requires little or no acting experience but requires one to have fun. En 1966, les Nations Unies ont déclaré le 21 mars Journée internationale pour l'élimination de la discrimination raciale. En 1989, le Canada lançait la Campagne du 21 mars pour promouvoir l'harmonie interraciale. Le Concours national de vidéo Mettons fin au racisme!, s'inscrit dans cette grande campagne annuelle de lutte contre la discrimination raciale. Chaque année, nous encourageons les jeunes à y participer. L'année 2006 marque le dixième anniversaire du Concours national de vidéo Mettons fin au racisme!. Ce concours met à contribution des milliers de jeunes Canadiens provenant de chaque province et territoire. Elle exige peu ou aucune expérience comme interprètes ou acteurs, l'objectif principal étant d'avoir du plaisir. The year 1997 is designated the International Year of the Reef(IYOR) worldwide by a group of non-governmental organizations and institutions. This effort was endorsed by the International Coral Reef Initiative(ICRI), an international partnership of 75 nations seeking to implement Chapter 17 of Agenda 21, the Action Program adopted by the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Agenda 21, to date, is the most comprehensive action plan to halt and reverse the effects of environmental degradation and to promote environmentally sound sustainable development. Chapter 17 presents integrated strategies and programs for the protection and rational use of resources from oceans, all kinds of seas, and coastal areas. IYOR is intended to provide a global context for national and regional efforts to save coral reefs. In June 21, 2000, the Federal-Provincial Territorial Council of Ministers on Social Policy Renewal released a report entitled "Public Dialogue on the National Children's Agenda-Developing a Shared Vision". The report highlights the results of a public dialogue on this topic that took place in May 1999 and presents a shared vision for our children that can serve as a catalyst for action by all Canadians. Le 21 juin 2000, le Conseil fédéral-provincial-territorial de ministres sur la refonte des politiques sociales a rendu public un rapport intitulé «Un débat public sur la Plan d'action national pour les enfants : Élaboration d'une vision collective».
