Land mines are a fundamental impediment to post-conflict reconstruction and development. Yet, mine action programs which focus narrowly on eliminating or limiting the devastating impacts of these weapons, risk over looking the complex peace building and developmental needs of countries infected by land mines. To be effective, mine action programs require a greater understanding of the socio-economic impacts of land mines as well as a longer-term and coordinated strategy among key actors working in this field. The year 1997 is designated the International Year of the Reef(IYOR) worldwide by a group of non-governmental organizations and institutions. This effort was endorsed by the International Coral Reef Initiative(ICRI), an international partnership of 75 nations seeking to implement Chapter 17 of Agenda 21, the Action Program adopted by the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Agenda 21, to date, is the most comprehensive action plan to halt and reverse the effects of environmental degradation and to promote environmentally sound sustainable development. Chapter 17 presents integrated strategies and programs for the protection and rational use of resources from oceans, all kinds of seas, and coastal areas. IYOR is intended to provide a global context for national and regional efforts to save coral reefs. As such, it promotes collaboration among organizations and programs with common interests in reef management and research.

A Questioned IS Requisition Number is created by the SPS [Standard Payment System] when the IS Request is processed by the SPS but is subsequently questioned by either the FIS [Financial Information Strategy] initiator department or the FIS recipient department using SPS on-line. Also, the SPS will create a Questioned IS Requisition Number for the original IS Request, which exceeds the maximum allowable IS amount of the recipient department and a full fifteen(15) working days has passed after the process date of the original IS, but the recipient department has not "approved" the IS. The action of "questioning an IS "will result in the creation of an IS transaction opposite to the original IS Request and the reporting of related control data to the RG-GL [Receiver General-General Ledger] and to both departments. The format of the Questioned Requisition Number is as follows : the first three digits identify the Client department, the next four digits identify the client departmental accounting office, two digits for the fiscal year, two digits for the fiscal month, the letter Q, the last three digits are a sequential number assigned by SPS.

Staffing action/adjustment module keeps track of areas which, in the opinion of the manager, will require some action to ensure that operational demands are met; this includes vacancies which are likely to occur due to long-term disability leave, maternity leave, care and nurturing leave, extended vacation leave and any other situation which will require attention. The Training and Development module records available courses, maintains a list of employees identified for each course through the appraisal process, as well as the status of this training(proposed, approved, completed).
