The amount of oil pressure directed to the actuator is controlled by two separate controllers : the density controller and the differential pressure controller. The density controller senses the temperature and pressure of the airflow in the engine intake. The differential pressure controller senses the difference between engine manifold pressure and the air pressure between the compressor and the throttle valve. When fully open, the waste gate valve routes the exhaust flow directly out the tailpipe, away from the turbine wheel. When fully closed, the waste gate valve routes the exhaust flow through the turbine wheel, thereby driving the turbine. During most stages of operation the controllers modulate the position of the valve to drive the turbine at the speed required to meet the engine power selection. La force de la pression d'huile dirigée vers l'actionneur est déterminée par deux régulateurs distincts : le régulateur de densité et le régulateur de pression différentielle. Le premier détecte la température et la pression de l'air dans l'entrée d'air moteur. Le second détecte la différence de pression entre celle du collecteur d'alimentation moteur et celle entre le compresseur et le papillon des gaz. Lorsqu'il est complètement ouvert, le limiteur achemine les gaz d'échappement directement dans le tuyau d'échappement, en contournant la turbine. Lorsqu'il est complètement fermé, le limiteur achemine les gaz d'échappement directement vers la turbine et la fait tourner. La plupart du temps, les régulateurs modulent la position du limiteur pour faire tourner la turbine à la vitesse correspondant au réglage de puissance du moteur. The balance among air pressure, airflow, fluid pressure, and fluid flow is controlled by adjusting the valves concerned to provide the desired spray quality and pattern. Air flowing through the center area of the air cap and through holes near the center mixes with fluid from the fluid tip and produces an atomized spray. Air flowing from the openings in the horns of the air cap impinges on each side of the fluid spray to produce an elongated spray pattern. This pattern may be adjusted for a wide or narrow area by changing the setting of the spreader adjustment valve. (1) The radio rack venturi restrictor valve is installed in the forward end of the left utility tunnel. The valve is positioned upstream from the venturi, and functions to limit the amount of air discharged overboard. The valve is driven closed when the radio rack fan relay is energized, and is controlled by the same circuits as the fan. The valve is always closed when the airplane is on the ground.(2) The valve is a butterfly-type with clearance between the butterfly and the housing. In the closed position(butterfly positioned 90 degrees to airflow), the valve allows approximately 10 pounds of air per minute to flow through the discharge venturi. In the open position the airflow to the venturi is increased to approximately 20 pounds per minute. The valve actuator is operated by a 115-volt, 400-cycle electric motor.
