[National Defence Act (NDA)] Section 275 states: "The Canadian Forces, any unit or other element thereof and any officer or non-commissioned member, with materiel, are liable to be called out for service in aid of the civil power in any case in which a riot or disturbance of the peace, beyond the powers of the civil authorities to suppress, prevent or deal with and requiring that service, occurs or is, in the opinion of an attorney general, considered as likely to occur."

In Canada, there is a distinction made between "aid to the civil power" and "assistance to civil authorities. "The former expression refers to military aid provided to the provincial police forces to restore and maintain law and order. The latter encompasses all other forms of assistance the military gives to the civil community. Examples include search and rescue operations, counter-terrorism response, emergencies(natural and man-induced), fisheries and border protection, humanitarian assistance, counter-drug operations, arms smuggling, illegal immigrants, environmental surveillance and special events.

Rules : There are 3 teams, each with a different color jersey.... There are 4 players on each team... The players on the defensive teams form a square around the ball. This same square constantly follows all the movements of the ball. Each player is responsible for a corner of the square and is situated about 10-12 feet from the ball. If the sun is close to the horizon, the two upper arcs angle sharply away from the 22° halo. As the sun rises higher in the sky, the tangent arcs move toward the 22° halo. When the sun’s declination reaches 32°above the horizon, the lower and upper tangent arcs make contact, and the resulting ring is called the circumscribed halo. It touches the 22° halo above and beneath the sun. When the sun is just above 32°the circumscribed halo resembles a double oval. As the sun rises higher it becomes increasingly circular and draws nearer to the 22° halo. When the sun’s declination exceeds 70°, the circumscribed arc nearly coincides with the 22° halo.

Le principe derrière ces capteurs miniatures est le pont de résistance wheatstone. Ces résistances imprimées sur une membrane flexible sont construites à partir de semi-conducteur sensible à la tension (stain gauge). La valeur de la résistance varie en fonction de l'étirement de la membrane. L'avantage qu'offre le pont de résistance est une sortie linéaire et une stabilité quant aux variations de pression et de température. Lorsque la membrane s'étire sous une augmentation de pression, deux résistances opposées augmentent alors que les deux autres résistances opposées diminuent. La réponse en fréquence est beaucoup plus grande que les transducteurs couplés à l'air (ballons en latex).

Although the redesigned station is now being built as much as possible on the ground, the entire monolithic structure cannot be lobbed into orbit in one piece. The sections must be small enough to fit inside the Space Shuttle payload bay, which limits segments to about 15 ft(4. 6 m) in diameter and 45 ft(13. 7 m) in length. By the time the space frame truss segments are ready for launch, they have been fitted with such hardware as electric lines, batteries, antennas, gyroscopes, robotic arms, solar panel assemblies, and heat radiators. The actual truss is hard to identify once all the equipment is loaded onto it; there's no wasted space. Once the segments are in space the astronauts will simply bolt them together with a few fasteners and then connect hoses, ducts, and other utilities by plugging them into ports between sections.

The molecular basis of beta thalassemia in Lebanon has previously been studied in a sample of 25 homozygote individuals. The 25 individuals included in that study had all presented at the American University Hospital and, with the exception of one patient, were all of the Muslim religion. With the advent of PCR, new techniques for mutation screening have emerged, among them the Allele Refractory Mutation System(ARMS) based on allele-specific priming of the amplification reaction. We are currently applying this technique in our laboratory in order to screen a larger number of samples from heterozygote individuals, in an effort to complement the previous findings and study the distribution of mutations among different geographical regions and different religious groups...

1967. Three kinds of sets of the new-design(Canadian wildlife) coins were offered to collectors by the Royal Canadian Mint : 1. the familiar six-coin set in plastic, 2. a set in a red leather-covered case(containing a sterling silver medallion in addition to the standard six coins), and 3. a "gold set" in a black leather-covered case. The gold set contained the cent through the dollar and a twenty-dollar gold coin bearing the Coat of Arms of Canada on its reverse. All coins in the gold set were of the best quality the Mint could produce at the time. Some sets even had lacquered coins, to help ensure that their beautiful finish would remain free of tarnish for many years.

Pour souligner le Centenaire de la Confédération canadienne, trois ensembles comprenant la série de pièces à nouveaux motifs (faune canadienne) furent offerts aux collectionneurs par la Monnaie royale canadienne : 1. l'ensemble comprenant la série habituelle de six pièces sous plastique, 2. l'ensemble comprenant la série de six pièces plus un médaillon d'argent sterling, dans un coffret de cuir rouge, et 3. l'«ensemble or» présenté dans un coffret recouvert de cuir noir. Ce dernier contenait toutes les divisions du cent au dollar inclusivement et une pièce d'or de 20 dollars dont le revers s'ornait des armoiries du Canada. Toutes les pièces de l'«ensemble or» étaient de la meilleure qualité que la Monnaie pouvait alors produire. Les pièces de certains exemplaires de cet ensemble avaient même été laquées pour que leur superbe couleur résistât longtemps au dédorage.
