A gender-based analysis(GBA) is a tool to both understand the local context and to support gender equality. A GBA examines the relationships between men and women, girls and boys, their access to resources, their activities, and the constraints they face relative to each other in a particular context. It identifies the varied roles played by women and men, girls and boys in the household, community, workplace, political processes and economy. These different roles often result in women having less access to and control over resources, and less participation and influence in decision-making processes. A GBA also considers how other intersecting identity factors such as race, ethnicity, LGBTQ2I [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit, intersex], legal status, ability, language, religion, socio-economic status, and education, affect individual and group experiences, including among women and among men. Gender equality is not exclusively about women's or girls’ issues and is not only about working with or for women and girls. Men's and boys’ engagement is critical.

Elle vise l'atteinte de l'égalité de fait entre les femmes et les hommes. Un programme gouvernemental peut présenter des caractéristiques d'apparence neutre, mais tout de même produire des effets inégaux en s'appliquant aux femmes et aux hommes, en raison des réalités et des besoins différenciés qui les caractérisent. La mise en application de l'ADS permet de déterminer les enjeux et les besoins spécifiques aux femmes et aux hommes et offre une perspective différente de celle que présente une moyenne statistique de la population.

The National Occupational Classification(NOC) replaces Canada's previous occupational classification systems, the Canadian Classification and Dictionary of Occupations(CCDO) and the closely-related 1980 Standard Occupational Classification(SOC) of Statistics Canada. The NOC presents a new structure for analyzing and understanding the labour market and reflects occupational changes that have taken place over the past two decades. It also addresses problems with the CCDO that became evident when it was used for economic analysis. For example, in the NOC, occupations that encompass a wide range of skill levels are not classified together in the same unit group as they are in the CCDO.

Single Particle Analysis is a group of related computerized image processing techniques used to analyze images from transmission electron microscopy(TEM). These methods were developed to improve and extend the information obtainable from TEM images of particulate samples, typically proteins or other large biological entities such as viruses. EDNAP started life in October 1988 in London when a group of forensic scientists from various European countries came together to find a way of harmonizing the DNA technology for crime investigation. With the thought in mind that an integrated Europe with open borders could well see the escalation of cross-border crimes, there would be a need for forensic scientists to exchange data and compare results of DNA analysis. At the 14th Congress of the International Society for Forensic Haemogenetics(ISFH) in Mainz(1991), EDNAP was accepted as a working group of the ISFH. Within this working group, it is intended that each European country should be represented by one laboratory with sufficient expertise in forensic DNA technology. As a small group, EDNAP is able to make decisions solely based on scientific considerations and in the spirit of helping each other.

It has conducted a number of exercises and co-operative training with the RCMP and other authorities, and would be activated upon a request from the federal Solicitor General.

It is generally found that natural objects possess self-similarity and self-affinity in their structures. Fractal analysis, a technique based on these properties, has been widely used in various research applications. In the active remote sensing of the earth terrain, it is possible to extract this fractal information from the images obtained. In this application, fractal surface dimension, an important parameter in fractal analysis, can be employed as an additional feature to classify different landuse areas. This fractal surface dimension is generally related to the roughness of the surface. By keeping the x and y coordinates of the pixels of the image, and taking the grey level of each pixel as its z coordinate, a three-dimensional surface can be constructed. The calculation of fractal surface dimension can then be carried out on that surface.

La grande variation locale des niveaux de gris des objets présents dans les images optiques à très haute résolution spatiale, rend obsolètes les méthodes d'analyse précédemment citées. Dans [Pentland, 1984], il est montré que la dimension fractale peut être utilisée pour caractériser des scènes naturelles; toutefois, ce type d'analyse n'est plus efficace lorsque l'image à étudier est très irrégulière. Pour analyser des signaux possédant une régularité variant fortement d'un point à un autre, il est préférable d'utiliser l'analyse multifractale. Nous proposons un nouvelle approche à la segmentation d'images de télédétection basée sur l'analyse des composants fractals de l'image. Elle ne nécessite aucune connaissance a priori sur l'image, et étudie la régularité locale et globale par le biais de l'exposant de Hölder et du spectre multifractal. Les singularités et les irrégularités d'un signal sont souvent porteuses de la plus grande part d'information.

The primary technique used for checking the inconsistency of precipitation data has been a double mass analysis. In this technique the accumulation at a given station is plotted against the average accumulation for a group of stations. When the number of stations in the group is reasonably large, the accumulation of the group average should be quite stable. Thus, if there is a change in the relationship between a single station and the group at some point in time, it is likely that there has been a change in the precipitation measured at that station. This deviation can be removed by multiplying a portion of the record at that station by a factor that will produce a generally straight line relationship.

The Working Group on Numerical Experimentation(WGNE), jointly established by the Joint Scientific Committee on the WCRP and the WMO Commission for Atmospheric Sciences(CAS) has the responsibility of fostering the development of atmospheric circulation models for use in weather prediction and climate studies on all time scales and diagnosing shortcomings. WGNE promotes co-ordinated numerical experimentation for validating model results, observed atmospheric properties, exploring the natural and forced variability and predictability of the atmosphere,(e. g the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project, AMIP), as well as studies aimed at refined numerical techniques, and the formulation of atmospheric physics processes. WGNE also monitors the advances in data assimilation and analysis methods and is the focal point in WCRP for encouraging and reviewing the reanalysis projects carried out at various centres with fixed state-of-the-art assimilation systems providing a multi-year homogenous data set for a range of atmospheric and climate diagnostic studies.

The primary gases of interest are nitrogen (N²), oxygen (O²), carbon dioxide (CO²), argon (Ar), acetylene (C²H²), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), helium (He), and carbon monoxide (C18 O). The GASMAP flight hardware consists of two components: an analyzer module and a calibration module, both of which are housed in drawers inside Spacelab. The analyzer module contains all the sensor and electronic hardware of the GASMAP.
