Manager, Market Analysis(Staff of 5) is responsible for : conducting market analysis research and studies of goods and services by detailed line item to determine what private sector vendors charge their customers; analysing spend cube information to determine what the Government of Canada(GofC) pays for these same common items; conducting analyses to develop a series of Price Indices comparing market prices to GofC prices for these common goods and services; and developing reports to present the findings of the comparisons and Price Indices, identifying areas for potential savings and efficiencies for application by AB Sectors and OGDs in their procurement of goods and services. As a follow-up to the Symposium on Language Data on Official-Language Minorities, which brought out the need to promote exchanges of research and information and to improve co-ordination among researchers, an Interdepartmental Working Group was set up to study these questions. [The person who] formulates mathematical model of management problems by application of advanced mathematics and research methods to provide quantitative basis for planning, forecasting, and making decisions. Reports to :Manager of systems analysis and design. Education, training, and experience : College degree with emphasis on advanced mathematics and statistics is usually the minimum educational requirement. A combination of advanced degrees in mathematics and business administration is especially desirable. A doctorate in mathematics is frequently required. Specific training in operations research at the graduate level is rapidly becoming a standardized requirement, as more schools offer courses in this interdisciplinary occupational area.
