Standard horizontal position in traditional parachuting and formation flying. By arching your back and spreading the arms and legs, you will automatically turn belly down in freefall (kind of like a badminton [bird].

A beautiful, delicate head characterizes the Arabian, often with a "dished" or concave profile below large, prominent eyes; a high-set, arched neck; and a naturally high tail carriage. The back is short and straight; the withers are pronounced and long; the chest is muscular, deep and broad; the shoulders long and sloping; the legs muscular with broad strong joints and clearly defined tendons; and the hooves small with very tough horn, wide at the heel. These points of "type" give the Arabian its distinctive beauty. The ideal height for an Arabian is between 14. 2 and 15 hands and may be chestnut, gray, bay, and black. White markings on the face and legs are common. The coat is fine and silky and the skin is invariably black. The mane and tail are full.

Because the term dates back to hand composition and the use of square metal type, most sources still refer to the em as being a square area. Thus, an em is often defined as the square of the point size of a given face. The em for a twelve-point size(i. e. a 12-point em) would be 12 points wide and 12 points deep. So called because it is the rectangular area occupied by the capital M of the typeface.

OBS

The unit em has no precise meaning without indication of its body size because the actual area of an em, expressed in points, changes with the type size. The proportion, however, always remains the same. If printers speak of ems without adding a specific body size, they usually mean the pica, or 12-point, em.

Visual awareness primarily involves seeing what is directly in front of you, but it can be influenced by a three-dimensional representation of the object in view retained by the brain. If you see the back of a person's head, the brain infers that there is a face on the front of it. We know this is true because we would be very startled if a mirror revealed that the front was exactly like the back.

Brief flashes of colored light enable researchers to infer the minimum time required for visual awareness. A disk of red light is projected for 20 milliseconds, followed immediately by a 20- millisecond flash of green light. But the observer reports seeing a single flash of yellow, the color that would be apparent if red and green were projected simultaneously. The subject does not become aware of red followed by green until the length of the flashes is extended to 60 to 70 milliseconds.

Une tache de couleur rouge est projetée pendant 20 millisecondes et remplacée immédiatement par une tache de lumière verte, pendant la même durée. L'observateur ne voit qu'une seule tache de couleur jaune, qu'il verrait également si les deux couleurs étaient projetées simultanément. Le sujet ne commence à percevoir la succession rouge-vert que lorsque les éclairs durent au moins 60 à 70 millisecondes.
