[...] une «station» [...] est un point d'arrêt d'une ligne de transport terrestre où se trouve un ensemble d'installations pour l'embarquement et le débarquement des voyageurs et des marchandises. Les «stations» extrêmes sont les «stations terminus». [...] une «gare» [...] est le bâtiment ou l'ensemble des bâtiments qui font partie des installations d'une station [...] : toute station a sa gare. [...] Dans le langage courant, «gare» se dit comme synonyme de «station» pour les transports interurbains : [...] le parc de stationnement de la gare des autocars. [...] Au Canada, dans le transport routier surtout, on confond les sens de gare, station et terminus. On ne peut appeler «terminus» une «gare» (ou une «station») d'une ligne d'autocars où les véhicules ne s'arrêtent que pour les besoins locaux, même si cette gare sert de terminus à une ligne secondaire d'autocars. Il ne faut pas dire, par exemple, le «terminus» des autocars à Granby au lieu de la gare ou la station des autocars à Granby.

The standard interfaces to the ISPRs [International Standard Payload Racks] include a MIL-STD-1553B Payload Bus that uses twisted shielded wire pairs and a high rate data link via optical fibers. Commands to the payloads from the ground, crew, and onboard automated procedures are delivered via this 1553B connection as are health, status, safety, and ancillary data types. Each payload location is allowed one remote terminal on the bus.

Hexapod is a support facility to be mounted on an EXPA of the ISS. The facility will be used for the Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment III(SAGE III). The facility has a bottom plate and a top plate. The two plates are connected by 6 linear actuators. Hexapod receives the pointing data from SAGE III and the actual base position from the ISS-EXPA. From this data the HEXAPOD control algorithm calculates the next position for each leg. Each linear actuator is driven by a double winding Brushless DC Motor, while the position is monitored by an incremental encoder. To sustain the launch load a launch support structure has been designed, which is released by dedicated electromechanical devices. Hexapod is controlled by a dedicated electronic unit... which interfaces to the Station via the MIL BUS 1553B.

The Lyon Métro is not very deep. Some stations especially on line A and line D (eastern branch) are right below street level with separate entrances for each side platform. A strange construction is Charpennes transfer station where you can change trains from line B to line A towards Perrache without climbing any stairs as the line B platform was built to allow trains theoretically to continue on the line A tracks.

The power management and distribution subsystem distributes the power at 160 volts DC around the station through a series of continuous duty, DC [Direct Current] contactor switchgear. The switchgear has built-in microprocessors, controlled by Ada software and connected to a data bus running throughout the station. DC-DC converter units stepdown and condition the voltage from 160 to 120 volts DC to form a secondary power system to service the loads through solid-state switchgear. The converters also provide isolation of the secondary from the primary system and maintain uniform power quality throughout the station.
