... the [seismic exploration] industry needs chainsaw buckers to help clear a path in forested areas, survey helpers to mark where the explosives and vibrators need to go, driller helpers to handle the explosives and help drill the shot hole for the explosives, and line crew helpers to lay the cable and sensors that will record the data.... With as many as fifty line crew helpers needed on a crew, these juggies are the muscle on the team. Line crew helpers are often called recorder helpers because much of their work involves laying the electronic equipment and wires that record sounds coming from underground.

Helpers are inexperienced people in training positions on seismic crews. After they gain skills and experience, helpers may move to other positions on a crew. Recording helpers, often called jug hustlers, assist seismic observers. In preparation for recording activities, observers may require as many as twenty or more helpers to haul cables, geophones and other recording equipment, and place and connect recording equipment.

A Line Crew/Recorder Helper/ is responsible for the laying out and picking up of seismic recording equipment for the purposes of both 2D and 3D land seismic data acquisition. In preparation for recording activities, there may be as many as fifty or more helpers to lay out cables and plant geophones. The position involves working twelve to fourteen hours per day, walking six to 20 km on uneven terrain, carrying cables and geophones for pick-up or layout (up to 90lbs) ensuring quality control on lay-out and pick-up, participating actively in all company safety initiatives, following all helicopter safety protocol, and loading and unloading of seismic equipment from seismic line vehicles or helibags.

The ATV skidding cone is used to avoid obstacles in the log's path thereby protecting the younger trees in your wood lot. The cone can gather up to six small logs at a time and is suitable for logs up to 20 inches in diameter. The skidding cone can be attached to the ATV using a kevlar cable.

Hauling with a pulley. Sometimes, the direction of the skidding trail or the narrowness of the track mean that the tractor and its winch cannot be positioned so that the trees are brought out in a straight line directly to the track. In that case, using a pulley makes it possible to bring the logs out indirectly by angling the path of the cable. Depending on the position of the pulley, the logs may be placed parallel or perpendicular to the track, for loading onto the trailer.

Parfois, l'orientation du sentier de débusquage ou l'étroitesse du chemin ne permet pas de positionner le tracteur et son treuil dans l'angle de halage pour sortir les troncs directement dans le chemin. L'utilisation d'une poulie permet alors de sortir le bois indirectement, en déviant la trajectoire du câble. Selon la position de la poulie, le bois peut être placé parallèlement ou perpendiculairement au chemin, en vue du chargement dans la remorque.

Parallel Circuits-A parallel circuit is one in which the electric detonators are connected to two common points. Each detonator in a connexion of this kind offers a path for the electric current independent of all the other detonators in the circuit, and therefore calls for a higher amperage requirement than a series circuit in which there is but one path.... A parallel circuit is characterized by comparatively low voltage and high amperage requirements, and because of this it is advisable to use a heavier shot-firing cable. The disadvantage is that it is not possible to test the circuit as a whole by means of a circuit tester.

Circuits en parallèle. Dans un circuit en parallèle, une tige de chaque amorce est reliée à un côté du circuit et l'autre tige à l'autre côté du circuit.
