The blue screen method was developed in the 1930s at RKO Radio Pictures.... Before digital chroma keying, bluescreening was accomplished using film. The camera color negative was printed onto high-contrast black and white film, using either a filter or the color sensitivity of the black and white film to limit it to the blue channel. The Mast Camera, or Mastcam for short, will take color images and color video footage of the Martian terrain. The images can be stitched together to create panoramas of the landscape around the rover. Like the cameras on the Mars Exploration Rovers that landed on the red planet in 2004, the Mastcam design consists of two camera systems mounted on a mast extending upward from the Mars Science Laboratory rover deck(body). Westinghouse Lunar Color Camera. Used on Apollo's 12 & 14. The camera was mounted inside the Modularized Equipment Stowage Assembly(MESA) in Quad 4 of the Lunar Module(LM) Descent Stage. This gave the capability of broadcasting the first steps of the astronauts as they climbed down the ladder of the LM at the start of the first EVA [extra vehicular activity]. The astronauts would then detach the camera from it's mount in the MESA, mount the camera on a tripod, and carry it away from the LM to show the progress of the EVA. This system was the same TV camera used on previous missions inside the CSM, with a few minor modifications to adapt it to the lunar environment. Recently two new types of lightning have been verified : red sprites and blue jets. These atmospheric discharges occur very high in the Earth's atmosphere-much higher than the familiar form of lightning. Blue jets appear blue in color and go from the tops of clouds to a height of about 50 kilometers. Because blue jets typically last almost a full second, one can easily see the jet rise from the clouds with a fast video camera. Blue jets appear as narrow cones and travel about 100 kilometers per second.
