A video control operator... controls the video console to regulate transmission of content—everything from test patterns to live and recorded telecasts. Video control operators view the action on set through video monitors and set switches and observe dials on the video console to control contrast, framing, brilliance, color balance, and the fidelity of the transmitted image. They monitor the program to ensure broadcast technical quality, and review the program to determine that the signal functions properly and is ready for transmission on schedule.

Metabolic carts are computerized instruments [that are mounted on a cart and] used to measure metabolic energy expenditure as well as cardiovascular and respiratory function at rest or during exercise.... The uniqueness of a metabolic cart is that, given the appropriate software, stand alone gas analyzers and airflow measurement devices can be integrated with a computer..., color monitor and printer. Peripheral analog input channels allow connection of external devices such as cycle ergometers, treadmills, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors and heart rate monitors.... the user can select or configure the cardiovascular, pulmonary and metabolic parameters for simultaneous display in a real time graphic, numeric or hard copy format.

A process where color capability is measured and recorded.

For instance, on a printer, or printing press, strips of various CMYK [cyan, magenta, yellow, black] values are read with a measuring instrument. This information is saved into a file that can be used to define the color space of that printer or press. The same applies to monitors. Usually an emissive colorimeter is attached to the face of the monitor for calibration, and then to measure its color space, or color capability. This process of measuring a color space is called characterization...

Flexography has the potential to approach and rival the print quality of rivals lithography and gravure, if flexo converters are willing to pay the price. That price is awareness and control of printing variables. This type of control can be obtained with a press fingerprint -- or as it is more commonly called today, press characterization. Characterization, when done correctly, has the potential to control variability in the current process.

Most computer monitors have a white point of 6500 Kelvin (or higher), which means that white objects on the monitor are actually blue-white, rather than pure white. This in turn means that colors displayed on the monitor are inaccurate.
