The clutch is composed of three discs on a shaft. Two of the discs, the driven disc and floating disc, are connected to the engine crankshaft and turn when the engine is running. The third disc, or clutch hub with lining, is free to turn on the shaft and is connected to the transmission by means of the drive belt. This disc is between the other two discs, and is the one with the lining. It turns when the scooter moves. As the three discs are pressed together, they are forced to turn together, transmitting engine power to the transmission.

Once a diesel engine is running, the engine speed is monitored and controlled through a governor. The governor ensures that the engine speed stays high enough to idle at the right speed and that the engine speed will not rise too high when full power is demanded. The governor is a simple mechanical device which first appeared on steam engines.... The governor consists of a rotating shaft, which is driven by the diesel engine. A pair of flyweights are linked to the shaft and they rotate as it rotates. The centrifugal force caused by the rotation causes the weights to be thrown outwards as the speed of the shaft rises. If the speed falls the weights move inwards. The flyweights are linked to a collar fitted around the shaft by a pair of arms. As the weights move out, so the collar rises on the shaft. If the weights move inwards, the collar moves down the shaft. The movement of the collar is used to operate the fuel rack lever controlling the amount of fuel supplied to the engine by the injectors.

Une eau agressive se définit comme ayant les propriétés d'attaquer les matériaux renfermant du calcium. Selon la minéralisation, le pH et la température de l'eau véhiculée, trois cas peuvent se présenter : une eau à l'équilibre calco-carbonique n'entraîne à une température donnée, ni attaque, ni précipitation de carbonate de calcium; une eau incrustante (ou entartrante) a tendance à déposer des sels de calcium (carbonate) sur la paroi intérieure des canalisations; une eau agressive peut attaquer certains éléments constitutifs du mortier de ciment comportant du calcium (silicates ou silico-aluminates de calcium).

Gearing a compressor directly to the engine is a wonderfully simple system. You don’t have to worry about compressing the air too much [term : over-boost] because the amount of pressure boost is directly proportional to engine speed, and therefore limited by the engine speed. Since the compressor is attached to the engine it is easy to deliver oil to the shaft that the compressor spins on. Another advantage of the gear driven supercharger is that some engine configurations,(mainly a radial engine) allow placement of the compressor in compact space.

The landing gear of the BE-10 aircraft is a fully retractable tricycle configuration, driven by a 28-volt motor located on the forward side of the main spar. The main gear actuators are driven from the motor gearbox through torque shafts. The nose-gear actuator is driven by a duplex chain from a sprocket on the motor gearbox. The input shaft to the nose-gear actuator drives a series of rotating gears inside the actuator. These gears rotate a screw into and out of a lubricated aluminum-bronze alloy nut. The movement of the screw through the lubricated nut extends and retracts the nose landing gear.

The centrifugal switch is also equipped to receive an air supply from the compressor, which applies pressure to the actuating shaft flange. This pressure causes the shaft to extend, engaging the 110-percent switch and stopping the APU.

Le contacteur centrifuge est placé du côté gauche du compartiment des accessoires près du compteur de temps de fonctionnement. Il comprend un arbre d'entraînement, commandé par le train d'engrenages qui entraîne des masselottes. Celles-ci sous l'action de la force centrifuge poussent un plongeur qui agit sur un levier portant les lames ressort préréglées, lesquelles agissent sur les trois interrupteurs.
