CLUSTER Radio Frequency Suitcase for the European Space Operation Centre. VTT Information Technology has delivered the Cluster RF-Suitcase to the European Space Operation Centre(ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany at the end of 1994. The purpose of the Suitcase is to test the RF compatibility between ground stations and spacecraft and to test the uplink and downlink functional characteristics. The CLUSTER RF-Suitcase belongs to the Cluster mission, where four identical spacecraft will be launched into large, elliptic polar orbits around the earth on the early test flight of Ariane 5 at the end of 1995. Le retour de Mir coïncidait avec la troisième Conférence internationale sur les débris spatiaux qui se déroulait en Allemagne. Selon une estimation, on retrouverait en orbite autour de la Terre entre 100 000 et 150 000 objets ou parties d'objets d'origine humaine. De ce nombre, quelque 700 satellites sont toujours en opération. Ces déchets constituent maintenant un problème important pour la sécurité des satellites et même des vols habités. The EECF, located in Frascati, Italy, includes User Services, the Product Control Service(PCS), and the Payload Reference System.
