… the International Board for Plant Genetic Resources(IBPGR) [was established in 1974] to coordinate an international plant genetic resources programme including emergency collecting missions, and building and expanding national, regional and international gene banks. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the [United Nations](FAO) acted as secretariat. In 1991, IBPGR became the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute(IPGRI) and in January 1994, IPGRI began independent operation as a CGIAR [Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research] center and at the request of CGIAR, took over the governance and administration of the International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantain(INIBAP).

The FAO [Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations] Intergovernmental Group(IGG) on Grains represents a forum for intergovernmental consultation and exchange on trends in production, consumption, trade, stocks and prices of grains, including regular appraisal of the global market situation and short term outlook. The Group, under FAO auspices, considers changes in national policies and examines their international effects as pertaining to the current and prospective market situation. The First Session of the FAO Group on Grains was held in May 1957 and since then it has met once in each biennium.

There are many occasions when it is technologically necessary to use an imitation rather than a natural flavor and in consequence, most naturally flavorful foods have been imitated using a mixture of natural and synthetic components. A very wide range of chemicals is now available for the recreation of flavorings, although usage may be specifically restricted by legislation depending on the toxicological acceptance of the chemical... Nature-identical flavoring substances... 3. Artificial flavoring substances-substances not yet identified in natural products intended for human consumption.
