The Ravens/Kuafu project : Global auroral imaging is essential for quantifying energy input into the ionosphere and thermosphere, and for observing the 2D ionospheric projection of the dynamic global magnetosphere. The original Ravens concept consists of two satellites on identical elliptical orbits to accomplish that goal. Podemos diferenciar los distintos tipos de luz especificando su longitud de onda. Así, la luz roja tiene una longitud de onda de unos 700 nanómetros (un nanómetro es un millonésimo de milímetro), la luz amarilla unos 580 nanómetros y la luz azul unos 450 nanómetros. A reusable free-flying vehicle built by Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm which can be deployed and retrieved by the Space Shuttle's Remote Manipulator System(RMS). The original SPAS, with materials processing and SDI("Star Wars")-related sensor payloads, was carried on three missions but not deployed on the second of these because of an electrical problem with the RMS. ORFEUS(Orbiting and Retrievable Far and Extreme Ultraviolet Spectrometer), was a German astronomical payload that flew twice aboard SPAS. In 1996, comets were found to emit X-rays. These X-rays surprised researchers, because X-rays are typically emitted by hot objects and comets are cold. The X-rays were generated by the interaction between comets and the solar wind : when highly charged ions fly through a cometary atmosphere, they collide with cometary atoms and molecules. The nitrogen oxides appear to leave the stratosphere by downward migration to the troposphere, or by absorbing ultraviolet light and breaking back down to nitrogen and oxygen.
