The effect of a government subsidy is to lower the final price of a product or service, which is why subsidies can become an international trade issue. Viability gap funding is a scheme of the Government of India for providing financial support to public-private partnerships in infrastructure. Examination of the published accounts of Crown corporations reveals :(...) most corporations which receive deficit subsidies reflect them in their financial statements, but deficit subsidies paid by government to one corporation are not reflected in its published financial statements. The expenses related to the subsidy are excluded as is the subsidy.
