Radial bar charts are a visually attractive alternative to traditional bar charts. Data are plotted on a polar coordinate system instead of the conventional Cartesian coordinate system. This allows the bars to be represented by rings rather than as vertical bars.

OBS

Radial bar charts can make a great and visually appealing graphic to include in a presentation or poster if you are looking to catch the reader's attention. However, as with many data visualisations, they have their own drawbacks. One issue that can arise is that they can be challenging to interpret. This is because our visual system is much better at interpreting straight lines when comparing values between categories. Additionally, rings towards the centre of the radial bar chart become harder to read and compare with those further out.

The colour triangle is a diagram developed by the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation for plotting data relative to colour(i. e. hue and grayness) in order to determine the suitability of inks for colour reproduction. Although both the colour triangle and the colour circle serve the same purpose, the advantage of the triangle is that the mixture of two colours falls on a straight line joining the two colours, whereas on the circle the lines are curved.

The triangle has also been modified so that masking percentages for photography can be read directly from the triangle. Masking percentages can also be derived from the circle, but a specific template must be used.

La complexité des calculs et la longueur des itérations laissant quelque peu à désirer en ce qui concerne la précision des résultats, de nouvelles solutions sont apparues en 1958, en particulier celles proposées par Kaiser, comme les méthodes Varimax, à présent programmées pour tous les ordinateurs scientifiques. Bien que la méthode Varimax proprement dite soit principalement utilisée pour obtenir des structures simples à partir de solutions directes, il existe maintenant des variantes de Varimax qui permettent d'obtenir des structures simples directement de la matrice des corrélations et même des données statistiques initiales concernant les variables primitives.
