deconvolution microscope : using the deconvolution microscope, researchers can see the locations of target molecules inside the cell. Seeing where glowing molecules reside within a cell is helpful for a range of research projects--from studies of how the distribution of various proteins changes during an organism's development to investigations of how administration of a drug alters the locations of certain proteins. The microscope, called DeltaVision, is manufactured by Applied Precision, based in Issaquah, Wash. It works by magnifying images and quantifying the intensity of light shed by the sample. The user specifies which colors of light are of interest. For instance, a user can program the microscope to report the intensity of a particular shade of green shining from the cytoplasm of a cell. After a researcher uses the microscope to make a series of optical slices through a specimen, the scope's computer "deconvolves" the images--in other words, it subtracts the out-of-focus light. Then the computer stacks together the images of the slices to reconstruct the original microscope sample. The DSD collects a fee from participating product packagers for the right to display the dot on their products. Le Centre canadien de la technologie des minéraux et de l'énergie (CANMET), l'organisme de recherche-développement de Ressources naturelles Canada, s'est joint à l'Association canadienne des constructeurs d'habitations pour promouvoir des concepts et des techniques de construction plus écologiques et plus éconergétiques. Pour donner suite aux recommandations du Plan vert relatives au réchauffement planétaire, on a lancé le Programme de la maison performante, qui fournit à l'industrie les moyens d'essayer en conditions réelles de nouveaux produits et technologies. Dans le cadre du Programme de la maison performante, on a construit dix maisons prototypes réparties à travers le Canada. Tous ces projets ont été sélectionnés par un concours national. On a conçu chacune de ces maisons pour réduire à un strict minimum son impact sur l'environnement. Of the Manitoba Rural Development. Green Team provides summer employment from June to September for youth 16 to 24 years of age in rural Manitoba. The program also achieves key objectives including park infrastructure and mechanical maintenance, interpretive services, tourism promotion in Provincial Parks and other visitor-oriented natural areas, special projects, grounds improvement and back country cleanup on recreational routes and rural Dutch Elm disease tree replacement.
