Adult-onset vitelliform macular dystrophy (AVMD) is an inherited maculopathy characterized by metamorphopsias and decrease in visual acuity occurring between the fourth and the sixth decade. It is characterized by an "egg yolk" macular lesion eventually evolving towards foveal atrophy and fibrosis.

Adult vitelliform macular dystrophy.... It is characterized by a focal, round or oval shaped, subretinal yellowish foveal lesion, often with one or more pigment stops on the anterior surface at the level of the pigment epithelium. The lesions may vary in size but are typically one third to one half of a disc diameter, and are usually bilateral and symmetrical. Patients usually present in the fourth or fifth decade of life and tend to have minimal visual symptoms... The disorder differs from... Best's disease... in that foveal lesions are smaller, it presents at a later age, it does not demonstrate evolutionary changes of the foveal lesion, and the light-induced rise in ocular potential is rarely absent.

A boiler in which the water to be vaporized is housed in a drum through which horizontal tubes (fire tubes) are run.

Fire-tube boilers may be designed for vertical, inclined, or horizontal positions. One of the most generally used types is the horizontal-return-tube (HRT) boiler. In the HRT boiler, part of the heat from the combustion gases is transferred directly to the lower portion of the shell. The gases then make a return pass through the horizontal tubes or flues before being passed into the stack.

The... horizontal return tube boiler... gets it's name from the horizontal fire tubes which run back-to-front through the lower half of the boiler drum. The gas burner is located under the front half of the boiler drum. The hot gases then pass to the rear of the fire box where they turn round and return to the front via the fire tubes and into the smoke box.(see this picture for a clearer description).

Saddle-notch corners : These are also known as saddle cope or round notch. They get their name from the saddle shaped notch cut into the bottom of each round log. This notch on the bottom of the top log straddles the top of the log coming from the perpendicular wall. Both logs then extend past the corner. The opposing walls of a saddle-notch corner system, both gable walls for example, start with a half log. This ensures that the logs overlap one another at the corners rather than butt into each other. The saddle-notch is one of the most traditional corner intersections and is favored by many handcrafters.
