The mule knot is a load-releasable knot that allows you to tie off an injured climber to your belay device so you can free your hands to perform a belay escape. You can also use the mule knot to tie off a hanging climber so you don’t have to hold his or her weight.

Once your have reached full standing position, slowly lower the weight back toward the floor.

EVA Gloves(left and right). If you look at the bottom of an EVA glove, you’ll see that it has a ring. This ring is used to snap onto the sleeve of the upper torso. It also contains a wrist bearing that is used to help the astronaut rotate his hand. On the opposite end of the glove are rubber finger caps. The scientists chose silicone rubber so that the astronauts could have some sense of touch when working with equipment and tools. Along the gloves are loops. Tethers connected to small tools can be latched onto the loops to prevent the items from floating off into space. The astronauts also like to wear thin fabric comfort gloves with wristlets band of materials worn for warmth within their EVA gloves.

Gants pour EVA (gauche et droit). Si on regarde au bout d'un gant EVA, on voit un anneau. Cet anneau sert à fixer le gant à la manche du torse supérieur. Il comprend aussi un roulement pour le poignet, qui aide l'astronaute à faire la rotation des mains. À l'autre bout du gant, on observe un recouvrement de caoutchouc au bout des doigts. Les scientifiques ont choisi le silicone pour donner à l'astronaute un sens du toucher lorsqu'il travaille son équipement et ses outils.
