Landscape maintenance refers to the general upkeep of exterior site spaces, including both hard and plant materials. The initial maintenance program on a site is the contractor's responsibility. A maintenance agreement for the period of construction and after is usually included in the tender documents as part of the landscape contract. It continues usually for four to six weeks after the project is finished and includes a one-year replacement guarantee for plant material. Le terme anglais provient d'un texte intitulé «The classless school». Il a été rédigé par M. Guy Hamel, qui occupe le poste de «professional services officer» au South-Winnipeg Technical Center (P.O. Box 145, 130 Henlow Bay, Fort Whyte, Manitoba R3Y 1G5 - tél. : (204) 488-2451). Un architexte-paysagiste anglophone de cette province a proposé ce terme à M. Hamel. Le texte porte sur des cours de recyclage offerts à des fermiers.
