The tree is small, up to 20 feet, sufficiently hardy to grow in central Florida and southern California. It is often grown as a bush or hedge. Leaves are entire, oblong, up to 3 inches, pointed at the terminal and glabrous. The fruits are an inch or more in diameter, near globose to oblate in shape, glabrous, but generally ridged. Each fruit contains 1 or 2 seeds. Flavor is quite tart, but not quite as tart as sour cherries.

The modern day history of American Bashkir Curly dates to 1898, when young Peter Damele(Duh-mel' ly) and his father were riding the Peter Hanson mountain range in the remote high country of Central Nevada, near Austin. Peter, who passed away in 1981 at age 90, could vividly recall the strange sight they saw of three horses with tight curly ringlets over their entire bodies.... The Bashkir Curly transmits the curly characteristic to its offspring about fifty percent of the time, even when mated to horses without the curly coat. They also seem to be a hardy breed and able to survive severe winter conditions.

In a replicated yield trial, established in 1987 at 4 locations in southern Manitoba, Double Delight ripened approx equal to 10 days later than Red River with the first harvest occurring on 25 August. Fruit yield averaged 1. 22 kg/m2 at all sites while low cane densities(6 m2) generally gave higher yields. Numbers of fruit/cane were similar to Red River(50). Field trials suggest that Double Delight is hardy to USDA zone 3 and ripening fruit can withstand-5 deg C. 2 ref.(From an abstract found in Dialog).

In our paper we show how virtual reality (VR) working over the World Wide Web could be used by chemists and biochemists as an extremely powerful tool in analysing data and disseminating information as well as an interactive learning tool.
