The Sustainable Development Research Institute(SDRI) was established in April 1991 to foster policy relevant research on sustainability. The Institute merged with the Institute of Resources and Environment in 2002 to form the Institute of Environment, Resources and Sustainability, within which SDRI remains as a research group. SDRI encourages interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty, departments and other centres at UBC, as well as other institutes and programs undertaking sustainability research in Canada and around the world.
