The 1998 budget proposes a comprehensive Canadian Opportunities Strategy to expand access to the knowledge and skills Canadians need for better job opportunities and a higher standard of living in the 21st century. Eligible employers that want to offer students interesting and worthwhile projects during the summer months may apply for funding under the JET program. If approved, the funding helps employers to create the student positions. A list of students, as determined by the employers pre-identified needs, is referred to the employers, who hire the right student for the job. Les employeurs admissibles qui souhaitent offrir des projets intéressants et valorisants aux étudiants durant les mois d'été peuvent demander un financement dans le cadre de JET. Si la demande est approuvée, l'appui financier accordé aidera les employeurs à créer des postes pour des étudiants. Selon les besoins établis par l'employeur, on remet à ce dernier une liste de candidats à partir de laquelle il choisit la personne idéale pour le poste.
