The Asian Dermatological Association was incoporated on the 21th November 1986 in Hong Kong. Main Objectives : 1. To promote the study and to encourage the advancement of dermatology. 2. To encourage and stimulate research in dermatology in furtherance of the objects of the Association. 5. To stimulate public interest and provide public education in dermatology. 6. To hold an Asian Dermatological Congress(ADS) every three years or at any such time interval as the Council deem fit and to sponsor additional international activities in any parts of the world.

Avian influenza viruses do not normally infect species other than birds and pigs. The first documented infection of humans with an avian influenza virus occurred in Hong Kong in 1997, when the H5N1 strain caused severe respiratory disease in 18 humans, of whom 6 died. The infection of humans coincided with an epidemic of highly pathogenic avian influenza, caused by the same strain, in Hong Kong's poultry population.
