The cutting system will include plasma arc cutting, rotary grinding, and abrasive water jetting. It will be a system consisting of a support frame, movable carriage, and trolley for horizontal x, y direction control, and a movable vertical z axis robotic telescoping arm supported on the trolley/carriage arrangement. The support frame, carriage, trolley, and robotic arm will be set on and above the LCSA, submerged in [approximately] 35 ft of reactor coolant. It will be remotely operated and controlled.

An instrument which measures combined direct solar radiation and diffuse sky radiation.

CONT

Diffuse solar irradiance is a measure of the rate of incoming solar energy on a horizontal plane at the Earth's surface resulting from scattering of the Sun's beam due to atmospheric constituents. Diffuse solar irradiance is measured by a pyranometer, with its glass dome shaded from the Sun's beam. The shading is accomplished either by an occulting disc or a shading arm attached to a solar tracker. The angle subtended by the shading disc of the diffuse pyranometer should be the same as the field of view of the pyrheliometer. It is important that the dome of the pyranometer is always fully shaded from the Sun's beam to ensure accuracy of measurement, and should be checked for correct alignment on a regular basis.

The pyranometer consists of a recorder and a radiation sensing element that is mounted so that it views the entire sky (radiation from the solid angle 2 on a plane surface).

Once you have reached this point, return to the starting position with your hands meeting at the midline of the body.

Mushroom arm cutter. Another special type of arm was the mushroom arm... This consisted of a standard jib with a vertical tree or turrett mounted near its end. The turret was fitted with teeth and rotated about its axis. It was driven by the cutting chain on the main jib. The mushroom device was designed to fit on to any standard-type chain coal-cutter and, like the curved jib, it allowed the operator to make a shear cut at the back of the web at the same time as the horizontal cut was being made. Other variations on this theme included units with twin mushroom jibs and units with both a curved arm and a mushroom arm on the same machine.
