A Swiss traveling in China ate a dish called Chrysanthemum which was dunk-cooked in a pot of bouillon. Fondues based on this became popular when he returned to Switzerland. The diner dips rolled shaved meat(traditionally beef) into a simmering broth. As with a bourguignonne, dipping sauces are served. This dish is still somewhat like a Chinese hot pot(huoguo in Chinese, or steamboat, which is popular across Asia). A rotary dryer consists of a cylinder slightly inclined to the horizontal and rotated on suitable bearings. The rotary action of the cylinder serves to convey wet material from one end to the other while passing hot gases axially through the dryer shell. There are several application techniques that can be used when the asphalt is installed by mopping. The modified bitumen sheet can be rolled, scrolled or flopped into the asphalt. Regardless of the application technique employed, the crucial factor is that the modified bitumen sheet make complete contact and embed in the hot asphalt. This can be accomplished by lightly brooming the modified bitumen sheet immediately after it has been installed. It is also good roofing practice to “scuff in” the side and end laps to assure that they are completely sealed.

Feuilles de bitume modifié. Cette catégorie de feuilles est obtenue à partir de bitumes et de polymères modificateurs (caoutchoucs synthétiques ou matières plastiques) ainsi que de fillers et d'adhésifs aux propriétés particulières. Puisque le processus de fabrication consiste essentiellement à mélanger les éléments, la quantité d'agent modificateur peut être adaptée en fonction des caractéristiques désirées. Les deux agents modificateurs de bitume les plus utilisés sont le SBS (styrène-butadiène-styrène) et l'APP (polypropylène atactique). La teneur moyenne en SBS du composé varie entre 12 et 15 %. En général, une quantité supérieure de SBS entraîne une augmentation de la souplesse à basse température et de la résistance à la fatigue, une élévation du point de ramollissement et un élargissement de la plage des températures de service.

The rotary dryer, sometimes known as a rotary kiln, is a type of industrial dryer employed to reduce or minimize the moisture content of the material it is handling by bringing it into direct contact with heated gas. The dryer is made up of a large, rotating cylindrical tube, usually supported by concrete columns or steel beams. The dryer slopes slightly so that the discharge end is lower than the material feed end in order to convey the material through the dryer under gravity. Material to be dried enters the higher end of the dryer, and as the dryer rotates, the material is lifted up by a series of internal fins lining the inner wall of the dryer. When the material gets high enough to roll back off the fins, it falls back down to the bottom of the dryer, passing through the hot air stream as it falls.

The Cup Counter Anemometer gives direct indication of run of wind on a mechanical counter.... Munro Cup Counter Anemometer... is used at many agrometeorological stations in hot climates to indicate the run of wind at 2 m above ground level and for estimating potential evapotranspiration. The three conical cups rotate the spindle at a speed proportional to linear wind speed and the motion is transmitted, via a worm gear, to a six-digit mechanical counter which indicates in mph, knots or km/h. Average run of wind over any chosen period of time can be calculated by noting counter readings at the beginning and end of the cycle.

The Cup Counter Anemometer is a passive instrument that indicates the total run of wind past the observation point via a mechanical counter. The observation window to the mechanical counter is inclined to allow easy reading from below.

Les instruments de mesure du vent sont de deux types; certains évaluent la vitesse, d'autres la direction. En surface, les anémomètres mesurent la vitesse du vent. Ils sont installés à 10 mètres au-dessus du sol, à un endroit dégagé de tout obstacle (bâtiment, arbre,...). Tin is a metal which can combine with other chemicals to form compounds. When tin is combined with chemicals such as chlorine, sulfur, or oxygen, it is called an inorganic tin compound. Air Float Dryer.... principle of operation.... The pulp web is carried in a number of passes through a chamber in which heated air is used both for drying and for supporting the web. Capital and operating costs are similar to the steam cylinder system, but most pulp producers favor the air float dryer because it is easier to operate and maintain. In the earlier models of the air dryer, the pulp web is carried on mechanical conveyors and hot air is blown between the passes. The later designs incorporate true air impingement above and below the web; this principle provides much higher evaporation rates and eliminates the mechanical conveyor. Typically, the pulp web enters at the top, makes a number of horizontal passes turning around rollers at each end, and leaves at the bottom of the dryer at the opposite end.

The Büttner Jet Dryer... consists of a stationary drying chamber, a blower arranged behind the drying to throw the particles into a cyclone, inlet and outlet rotary air locks, the furnace, and the connecting ductwork. Hot air is blown into the drum from the bottom and subsequently flows through the bed of material.
