The CANSKATE Program uses a badge system to lead children through eight skill levels. The skills of the first seven badges-Beginner, Elementary, Basic and Novice I through Novice IV levels are assessed on a day-to-day basis. A badge is awarded when a skater learns the skills in that badge. Only the final Proficiency badge is tested by the qualified coach.
