The Vintners Quality Alliance(VQA) is an Appellation of Origin system by which consumers can identify wines of Canada based on the origin of the grapes from which they are produced. With the VQA system, Canada joins other leading wine-producing countries in developing a body of regulations and setting high standards for its wines. In Ontario, the VQA officially began in 1988. The Ontario VQA encouraged the British Columbia wine industry to undertake a similar VQA program, which the province did in 1990. There are two distinct wine-producing regions in Canada : the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia. The VQA recognizes three Designated Viticultural Areas in Ontario, and four in British Columbia. EPThe VQA in Ontario is an independent alliance of wineries, grape growers, the provincial liquor regulator(the Liquor Control Board of Ontario), and academic, hospitality, and research institutions.

The Stewart platform consists of two plates connected by six mobile and extensible legs. The lower or base plate is immobile. The upper or mobile plate has six degrees of freedom, three rotational and three translational. The platform is highly stable and easy to control. The platform's six legs each have two parts, an upper and a lower leg, with a piston-like cylindrical DoF between each pair of parts. The legs are connected to the base plate and the top plate by universal joints at each end of each leg.(These universals are not just sets of abstract DoFs. Each also contains a spider-like body, while also having two DoFs.) The upper part of each leg can slide into and out of the lower leg, allowing each leg to be varied in length. The position and orientation of the mobile platform(top plate) varies depending on the lengths to which the six legs are separately adjusted. Once the top is connected to the legs, the entire Stewart platform assembly has 36 DoFs. Only six DoFs are independent, the same as the top plate would have if it were disconnected. You can think of these independent DoFs as the six adjustable leg lengths or as equivalent to the six DoFs of the mobile plate.

A Free CNC software package, the Enhanced Machine Controller (EMC) [1] is capable of driving a stewart platform using standard G-codes such as used for milling machines, etc.

Internal frames are usually parallel aluminium staves in channels on the back of the pack. These are thinner and more flexible than frame staves found on external frames, and are usually either independent or only attached to one another at the top, so they flex and move with the wearer far more than is generally the case with external frames. This leads to greater freedom of movement, and also means that the pack body is closer in to the wearer's back, enabling the centre of mass to be held closer to the wearer's own. This isn’t as comfortable standing around as a high load, but it's a lot easier to balance it, especially off the trail in rougher stuff.

The APFR [Articulating Portable Foot Restraint] secures a crew member's feet and allows the astronaut to adjust his body position at a work site. The APFR has three independent joints that are activated by EVA astronauts. Yaw and roll are controlled by foot pedals. The APFR can yaw 360 degrees and can roll 180 degrees. Pitch is controlled by a know at the base of the APFR. The APFR and pitch 180 degrees. The APFR may be used either as the core unit of the PWP(in conjunction with the TERA and tool stanchion) or as a stand-alone unit. Eight APFRs are baselined for the space station.

The Pacific Economic Cooperation Council(PECC) was formed in 1980 following the Pacific Community Seminar in Canberra, Australia. It was attended by 11 economies(Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the US), and the Pacific Island Nations. The Seminar called for the establishment of an independent, regional mechanism to advance economic cooperation and market-driven integration. A vital characteristics of the new body, asserted there, was its independent, unofficial status which would permit it to address economic issues and measures free from constraints of formal governmental policies and relationships. It, hence, agreed on the need for an informal process involving business and independent research institutions alongside governments. PECC is the only non-governmental official observer of APEC since the APEC' s formation in 1989. PECC has provided information and analytical support to APEC ministerial meetings and working groups. Also it channels and facilitates private sector participation in the formal process.

The South Centre has grown out of the work and experience of the South Commission and its follow-up office, and from recognition of the need for enhanced South-South co-operation. The South Centre came formally into being as an intergovernmental body of developing countries on 31 july 1995, when the Intergovernmental Agreement to establish the Centre came into force. Currently, 46 countries are members of the South Centre.

The South Commission was established in 1987 at the Non-Aligned Summit Meeting held in Harare in September 1986. The Commission consisted of distinguished individuals from the South who had different backgrounds and political persuasions. The Commission functioned as an independent body, with its members serving in their personal capacities. Its term was set for three years and its work was financed by contributions from the developing countries. The Commission's Secretariat was established in Geneva with the assistance from the Government of Switzerland.
