With the thin geotextile, the very fine soil particles initially pass through, leaving the large soil particles to bridge across the pore openings in the geotextile surface. This process induces a beneficial filter layer within the adjacent soil. Ces matériaux très volumineux, et à structure très lâche sont très souvent réalisés à partir de fil monofilament de gros calibre (diamètre élémentaire de l'ordre de quelques 1/10 de mm).
