Internal jugular vein. The IJV is the main venous structure in the neck. It originates as a continuation of the S-shaped sigmoid(dural venous) sinus. As it descends in the neck, it is contained in the carotid sheath. It terminates at the T1 vertebral level, superior to the sternoclavicular joint, by uniting with the subclavian vein to form the brachiocephalic vein. A large valve near its termination prevents reflux of blood into the vein.

Veine jugulaire interne. La VJI est la veine principale du cou. Prolongeant à son origine le sinus sigmoïde (sinus veineux dural), elle descend dans le cou au sein de la gaine carotidienne. Articular gout is most common in older budgies and is thought to be associated with renal tubular changes due to Vitamin A deficiencies. Visceral gout is characterized by large amount of urates deposited in serosal areas, particularly the pericardium and peritoneum. Specifically, the facility provides a large enclosed work volume, power, video, photography, vacuum connections, heat rejection, stowage, filtered air, gaseous nitrogen, lighting, airlock access, physical positioning and hold-down attachments, and computer data acquisition and control capabilities.

An index used to gage the severity of drought conditions by using a water balance equation to track water supply and demand.

The Palmer Index was developed by Wayne Palmer in the 1960s and uses temperature and rainfall information in a formula to determine dryness. It has become the semi-official drought index. The Palmer Index is most effective in determining long term drought-a matter of several months-and is not as good with short-term forecasts (a matter of weeks). It uses a 0 as normal, and drought is shown in terms of minus numbers; for example, minus 2 is moderate drought, minus 3 is severe drought, and minus 4 is extreme drought. ... The Palmer Index can also reflect excess rain using a corresponding level reflected by plus figures; i.e., 0 is normal, plus 2 is moderate rainfall, etc.

Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) ... compares the actual amount of precipitation received in an area during a specified period with the normal or average amount expected during that same period. Due to this large number of sensors, it is possible to use progressive control algorithms like impedance control that enable us to control an elastic robot arm. Prior to insertion of the liner pipe, the existing culvert must be cleaned of all debris either by flushing or manual removal. Any rust or spalls must be cleaned and removed as well as protrusions into the pipe. A jacking pit must be constructed with adequate size to contain lengths of pipe to be inserted, grouting equipment and any other equipment necessary to perform the insertion. The liner is normally pushed into the existing culvert, but occasionally it is pulled, or a combination of pulling and pushing is used. Due to the often large pressure load needed to push the last sections of a long or heavy liner into place, pulling may be the preferred method as long as adequate provisions have been made to avoid joint separation.

Large national networks came into operation in 1977 in Canada with the Canadian Network for Sampling Precipitation(Whelpdale and Barrie, 1981), and about a year later in the USA with the National Atmospheric Deposition Program(Gibson, 1981). These two networks operate a joint sampling program where stations from each network are collocated at 3 U. S. and 3 Canadian sites for the purpose of ensuring a consistent North American data base.

In chondrocalcinosis articularis, calcified deposits develop in hyaline cartilage and fibrocartilage and in the joint capsules. The large joints are affected most often, especially the knees. The symphysis pubis is the second most common site of involvement. The roentgenograms demonstrate a characteristic picture. The menisci may show calcification. Very often there is a thin line of calcification in the articular cartilage which runs parallel with and slightly separated from the subchondral bony cortex. Calcification is found also in the articular cartilage and the fibrocartilage of other large joints, as well as within or adjacent to the joint capsule.(From TUROR, 1984, p. 1287. ]
