The term "licence" is not invariably translated by the French "licence" although it is in most cases. The reason is that in English the term does not necessarily imply a business or occupation as does the French :"driver's licence" and "marriage licence" are examples of this. One must therefore be careful in translating "licence"--its usual French equivalent is "licence", but in some cases it can be "permis". An important characteristic distinguishing "licence" from "permit" is the fact that the former is not issued directly by the government but rather by a competent authority or by local authorities, while any of the three groups mentioned can issue a permit. The airport was first the "Dorval Airport, "from the name of the city in the suburbs of Montréal, then the "Dorval International Airport, "to become the airport for domestic flights, that is the flights limited to Canada, with the construction of the "Mirabel International Airport" inaugurated in 1975 and intended for international flights. But inadequate terrestrial links between Montréal and Mirabel contributed to give to the Montréal Dorval Airport("Montréal-Dorval") its international status, leaving the charter(up to Autumn 2004) and cargo flights to the Mirabel Airport("Montréal-Mirabel") ;political decisions for these ends were accompanied by important subsidies for the building of added accommodations to what has become the "Montréal Dorval International Airport. "With the amalgamation or merging of all the cities on the Île de Montréal, including the former cities of Montréal and of Dorval, to form the new city of Montréal on the 1 January 2002, the airport became the "Montréal Airport, "a reality usage had already confirmed. On the 1 January 2004, the airport's name changed to "Montréal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport" to honour a former Prime Minister of Canada as do other important airports in the country. The official name will, no doubt, not be quoted at length all the time; the forms mentioned as correct on the present record will surely be used instead, including the recommendation of the airport authority as to the use of "Montréal-Trudeau" as the current short form("fly from Montréal-Trudeau", or "land at the Montréal-Trudeau Airport"). Even if the airport encountered many name and status changes, it never had a name that includes a comma, and had always been represented by YUL, its IATA three-letter code.

The Montréal Dorval International Airport has been officially renamed "Montréal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport," written "Montréal - Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport" (a dash with a space before and after) in some governmental documents, during a ceremony held on September 9, 2003. The Metro Toronto Housing Authority developed the Safer Neighbourhoods Initiative to develop better strategies to deal with concerns over crime in public housing. Ten communities were invited to participate in the development of local strategies to combat crime and increase security. Residents, housing administrators, police and community groups and services were involved. An evaluation of this project undertaken through the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation sponsorhip, demonstrated that the community-based approach was a crucial factor in the success of the initiative.

The Multiple Listing is, in effect, an exclusive mandate to sell with the additional authority on the part of the listing broker to submit the listing to the Multiple Listing Service of the local real estate board. The board then prints and distributes copies of the listing to their broker members and firms who subscribe to their Multiple Listing Service. Passing on a listing to the Multiple Listing Service does not cancel any rights which the listing broker has in the contract. He merely shares the selling rights with other brokers. In doing so, he may obtain the cooperation of another participating broker who has a prospect who wishes to buy the kind of property in question.

The term "licence" is not invariably translated by the French "licence" although it is in most cases. The reason is that in English the term does not necessarily imply a business or occupation as does the French :"driver's licence" and "marriage licence" are examples of this. One must therefore be careful in translating "licence"--its usual French equivalent is "licence", but in some cases it can be "permis". An important characteristic distinguishing "licence" from "permit" is the fact that the former is not issued directly by the Government but rather by a competent authority or by local authorities, while any of the three groups mentioned can issue a permit. Also, the licence is usually granted for an extended period of time whereas the permit normally authorizes an act of short duration. For example, we say "driver's licence", but "learner's permit". Finally, note that in Canada the British spelling(licence) is used more often than the American spelling(license), although both are found in Canadian texts.
