The Common Departmental Financial System(CDFS) is a comprehensive on-line departmental financial management and reporting system designed to simplify and streamline financial administration. CDFS was developed to respond to the changing needs for financial management information in the federal government. It complements recommendations outlined in Public Service 2000 which called for departmental line managers to assume a greater responsibility for financial management of the areas under their control. Offered by Public Works and Government Services Canada(PWGSC), CDFS is an optional service. It replaces the FINCON and FINCAP systems. CDFS is a distributed system. Le Système financier ministériel commun (SFMC) est un système ministériel complet de gestion financière et d'établissement de rapports en direct conçu pour simplifier et rationaliser l'administration financière. Le SFMC a été élaboré afin de répondre aux changements dans les besoins en information de gestion financière du gouvernement fédéral. Il donne suite aux recommandations formulées dans le cadre de Fonction publique 2000, selon lesquelles les gestionnaires hiérarchiques devaient assumer une plus grande part de responsabilité quant à la gestion financière des secteurs placés sous leur contrôle. Le SFMC est un service facultatif offert par Travaux publics et Services gouvernementaux Canada (TPSGC). Il remplace les systèmes FINCON et COMPFIN. Enfin, le SFMC est un système réparti. To participate in KIDS FROM KANATA, a teacher needs a computer and modem with access to a telephone line. Participants log in to the Canadian national computer packet network, Datapac, to gain access to the SciLink host computer in Toronto. Most cities in Canada have local phone access to Datapac. SciLink is also available via the Internet, a network of networks connecting educational institutions around the world. Participating schools are organized into triads with a wide geographic dispersion, with each triad hosted by a Native, Aboriginal or First Nations classroom. Students interactively conduct research about their other two triad members under headings such as Health, Environment, Language and Culture, History, Education, Economics, and Politics. Pour participer au programme Les enfants du Kanata, un enseignant doit avoir accès à un ordinateur doté d'un modem et à une ligne téléphonique. Les participants entrent en communication avec l'ordinateur central de SciLink, à Toronto, par le biais de Datapac, ou par le truchement d'Internet. Les écoles participantes sont organisées en triades très dispersées sur le plan géographique, chacune ayant pour hôte une classe autochtone. Les élèves font de la recherche interactive sur les deux autres classes de leur triade dans des domaines tels que la santé, l'environnement, la langue et la culture, l'histoire, l'éducation, l'économie et la politique.
