Wind energy is the world's fastest growing renewable source of electricity … the atmospheric flows are strongly volatile, and therefore, the average wind speed at a given location is a very poor predictor of the energy output of a wind turbine. The basic requirement for wind power estimates is an adequate characterization of the empirical probability distribution of wind speeds since wind direction is less important because of the well developed methods of yaw control for modern turbines. The statistical description is highly simplified when a measured histogram can be accurately fitted by an analytical probability density function(PDF) with a few parameters. The traditional approach of modeling the wind speed PDF is based on the Rayleigh and the more flexible Weibull distributions. However, several authors noted that Weibull fits of empirical data have low quality at several locations, mostly over land.

REFERENCE STAKES a. Description. Many hubs marking the location of highways, airfields, and other works of man are bound to be uprooted or covered during the progress of construction and they must be replaced, often more than once, before construction is completed. As an aid in relocating a point which may become hidden by vegetation, or as a means of replacing points which may have been destroyed, measurements are made to nearly permanent or semi-permanent objects. This process is known as referencing or witnessing a point. On many surveys, no permanent objects may be aval as witnesses. In such cases, additional stakes may be driven. These stakes are usually 2" X 2" X 18"(approx) ;and b. Placement and Marking. There is no marking on a reference stake. A point can be referenced by a known distance and a known angle or by two known distances.

Low-Level Storage Building - This is an aboveground building for storage of LLW with fields less than 10 mSv/h. It consists of a prefabricated concrete superstructure on a poured concrete foundation and can store about 6600 m3 of packaged waste. The waste packages are stackable and their loading is accomplished with a forklift vehicle.

FINISH GRADE STAKES(1) Description : Wooden stakes 2" X 2" are usually used with the tops of the stakes coloured red or blue. Blue or red tops, as they are called, indicate the actual finished elevation of final grade to which the completed facility is to be constructed and are used when the grade is within a short distance of the final elevation. These stakes are not normally used in combat road construction except where steep slopes are involved. This type of stake will normally require a guard stake to protect it and indicate its location, although on large projects it may be impractical to use guards with each one.(2) Placement and Marking. There is no marking on these stakes other than the coloring on the top. The coloring can be other than red or blue. They may be set for use in two different ways : a. With the stake being exactly at the finished grade; or b. With the top of the stake being at a certain distance above the finished grade as decided upon by the surveyor and construction foreman.
