The Canadian Forces Electronic Warfare Centre(CFEWC) exists to deliver comprehensive EW support to CF military operations. CFEWC is endeavouring to be the expert authority on technical EW matters within the Canadian Forces. In 1990, the Electronic Warfare Operational Support Centre(EWOSC) project was initiated with the intent of consolidating operational, intelligence and engineering support to the CF EW community. Under the initial phase of the EWOSC project(IEWOSC), a centralized CF EW database was created, the environmental integrated support stations were established, EW threat analysis was begun and a common logistics and administrative support cell was stood up. The Canadian Forces Electronic Warfare Centre(CFEWC) was established to encompass these capabilities within facilities constructed at the Communication Research Canada(CRC)-Shirley's Bay Campus. The initial construction was completed in 1994. Le Centre de guerre électronique des Forces canadiennes (CGEFC) a pour mission d'assurer un soutien global en matière de guerre électronique aux opérations militaires des FC. Le CGEFC s'efforce de s'affirmer comme autorité technique experte en matière de guerre électronique au sein des Forces canadiennes. En 1990, le projet du Centre de soutien opérationnel de guerre électronique (CSOGE) est lancé dans le but de regrouper le soutien opérationnel, technique et de renseignement assuré à la collectivité de guerre électronique (GE) des FC. Dans le cadre de la première phase du projet CSOGE, désignée le CSOGE intérimaire, une base de données centralisées de GE des FC a été constituée, des stations de soutien intégré pour les éléments ont été établies, l'analyse des menaces de GE a été entamée, et une cellule de soutien logistique et administratif commun a été mise sur pied. Le Centre de guerre électronique des Forces canadiennes (CGEFC) a été fondé pour regrouper toutes ces capacités sous un même toit, dans les installations construites au Centre de recherches sur les communications Canada (CRC), au campus de Shirley's Bay. The COF Element is a multi-purpose cylindrical pressurised laboratory with an Earth-like atmosphere, permanently attached to the ISS. It has a capacity for 10 international standard payload racks(5 of which are allocated for use by other International Partners) with the facilities to be used primarily for the materials science, fluid physics and compatible life science disciplines. Le COF se présente physiquement sous la forme d'un cylindre accusant 9500 kg au lancement, mesurant 6,7 mètres sur 4,5 mètres. Raccordé au point de branchement numéro 2 (node 2), il en recevra sa puissance électrique sous la forme de courant continu à 120 volts et d'autres ressources. Sa consommation pourra aller jusqu'à 13,5 kW.
