Bien que les CD audio et les CD de données aient un aspect identique, n'essayez pas de lire un CD de données dans un lecteur de Compact Disk. Cela entraînerait le cas échéant une détérioration des haut-parleurs, car les données seraient mal interprétées par le lecteur. Les données sont stockées sur un CD d'une manière numérique, selon un procédé d'enregistrement et de codage particulier. Les informations sont regroupées dans des blocs contenant 2352 octets.
