Jet dyeing is a process that can be used for batch dyeing operations such as dyeing, bleaching, washing and rinsing. In this process, dyeing is accomplished in a closed tubular system, basically composed of an impeller pump and a shallow dye bath. The fabric to be dyed is loosely collapsed in a form of a rope, and tied into a loop. The impeller pump supplies a jet of dye solution, propelled by water and/or air, to force the fabric to move through the tube into the shallow bath. Turbulence created by the jet aids in dye penetration and prevents the fabric from touching the walls of the tube, thus minimizing mechanical impact on the fabric.

A tuck loop is formed by only partially raising the needle so the old loop does not clear, but rises sufficiently for feeding a new yarn into the hook. The old loop which did not clear is the held loop and the new yarn forms the tuck loop. When the needle is cleared on a subsequent course, the knit loop formed is pulled through the tuck loop in addition to the held loop. Tuck loops are used for runguards, in the band area, and some places in the panty. The tuck loops are also used to put in sewing marks and machine identification marks.

The Klemheist knot(or Machard knot) is a type of friction hitch used as a part of a system to ascend or descend a climbing rope.... A Prusik loop is wrapped round the climbing rope two or three times. The loop is then threaded through itself and carefully tightened to wrap the climbing rope neatly. In use, strain must only be taken on the hanging loop. Never grip and pull on the knot itself-a rapid descent can occur! If the knot slips when load is placed on the hanging loop, wrap the loop around the climbing rope another time or two as necessary until there is no slippage.

The knot is tied with a thin cord, usually 5 mm or 6 mm in diameter, onto the rope. The climber then attaches himself to the knot by clipping the cord onto his harness. Progress up a fixed rope is made by sliding the knot up the rope and then weighting or loading it with the climber’s weight. When loaded, the Klemheist knot cinches onto the climbing rope, allowing the climber to progress upward. When the knot is unloaded, it loosens, allowing the climber to slide it up the rope.

A sparge arm is another worthwhile brewery option. Although it does not actually save time, it does decrease the amount of effort you must spend pouring sparge water into the lauter tun. A sparge arm can be purchased ready-made, improvised from a shower head, or fabricated at home. One simple design is a perforated copper loop that lies on top of the grain in the lauter tun. As the name implies, the carabiner brake rappel is a rappel technique which uses a series of carabiners to produce the friction necessary for braking during a descent. One advantage of using this method is that there is no friction between the rope and the climber's body. The system requires two carabiners, arranged with their gates opposed, to form the platform, or base of the brake. The platform is attached to the harness or diaper sling using a carabiner(s). The braking carabiner(s), positioned across the platform carabiners and beneath the rope loop produce the necessary friction through their contact with the bight of the rope. The amount of friction produced depends on the number of braking carabiners used but, it is very important that the rope never run on the gate of the braking carabiner(s).

"Quad" is really short for "quadruplet" which means "a combination of four of a kind" (Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary). Therefore, the word "quadruplet" has been clipped (troncation) to the short form "quad" which has been given a new but restricted meaning in the field of figure skating.

The purpose of this switch is to avoid overflowing the laundry tub when the automatic washer is discharging its water. The switch is installed on the drain line between the laundry tub and laundry pump. Head pressure from the laundry tub activates the switch. Simultaneously a flow of water forming a loop from the pressure side of the pump through the switch bowl and returning to the pump intake keeps the switch contacts closed.(Pump runs continuously). When the laundry tub is completely empty the pump suction line takes in air. This pocket of air travels through the pump and through the return pressure loop. When the air enters the switch bowl, the pressure gives way to the pump suction side, thus pulling the switch contacts open(pump shuts off).
