Interface homme-machine. Suite à l'accident de Three Mile Island où l'on a vu un opérateur démuni face à une situation qu'il ne comprenait pas, la formation et les outils mis à sa disposition ont été profondément renouvelés, notamment : le rôle de l'opérateur a été reconnu comme fondamental pour la sûreté; - la conduite événementielle a été abandonnée, les combinaisons d'événements étant innombrables, et remplacée par l'approche par état : des paramètres physiques mesurés (températures, pressions, ...) ainsi que de la disponibilité des systèmes.
