A selected nine-point isochron implies a crystallisation age of 1663 [more or less] 22 Ma with an initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0. 705, coincident with that of the Tollie gneisses.... Holland and Lambert considered that the scatter of points might be the product of an open isotopic system involving variable loss of 87Sr into the host gneisses. If this were the case and if there were no comparable loss of Rb, the upper boundary of the data spread(i. e. the nine-point 1663 Ma isochron) would be expected to give the closest approximation to the age.

Inertial Stellar Compass Concept. ISC technology has artificial intelligence capabilities which will keep a spacecraft on course by providing attitude information to keep it stable and pointing accurately. It will also help the spacecraft recover from unexpected events, a temporary malfunction or power loss. To do that, the compass uses information from the camera-gyro assembly(CGA), which consists of two miniaturized devices : a star camera(or star tracker) to tell the spacecraft where it is pointing; gyroscopes to continuously monitor the spacecraft's motion. The gyroscopes also inform the control system how to keep the spacecraft stable and pointed in the right direction in case the camera is "blinded" by the Sun. The information gathered is compared with a large stellar catalog stored in the data processor assembly(DPA). Using a special algorithm the DPA determines the attitude accurately. This way the spacecraft's attitude is maintained correctly.

Regular and Sound Backups. Backups are something which everybody should be doing in any case, but are especially important in case of an attack by a destructive virus. In case of data loss, the system can be restored as efficiently as possible. As part of the backup procedure, the master disks for all software(including the operating system) should be write-protected and stored in a safe place. This will enable a speedy restoration of any infected executables. The backups should be sound, which means that there is little point in doing them unless the data can actually be restored.
