Fusaric acid is a mycotoxin with low to moderate toxicity, which is of concern since it might be synergistic with other cooccurring mycotoxins. Dérivé de l'acide picolinique isolé à partir de l'espèce Fusarium. Il a été proposé pour une variété d'applications thérapeutiques mais est principalement employé comme outil de recherche. Ses mécanismes d'action sont mal compris. Il inhibe probablement la dopamine bêta-hydroxylase, l'enzyme qui convertit la dopamine en norépinéphrine.
